WMUD Projects Needs List

https://clients.ruralwaterimpact.com/documents/971/WMUD_Projects_Needs.pdf

Above is a list of needed projects that WMUD hopes to complete within the next five (5) years, if at all possible.  Some of these projects have been included within projected expenses over the next five years but some of the larger ones, especially the estimated $600,000 project to install an 8-inch water line from the main well to the elevated water tower on Echols Road, will require a loan and/or a grant (the existing line collapsed and a temporary line was installed).  There are some more projects that are being added to this list as well in just the last few weeks due to growth in the Kearney Park area.  Your WMUD Board of Commissioners is responsible for continuing to provide water/sewer service to its customers, and find the finances to pay for the necessary and required improvements to its water and sewer systems, as well as having the finances required for the necessary repairs to its water and sewer systems.

WMUD Office/Community Center Building

No more roof leaks!   By  using insurance money from WMUD's insurance carrier, and also with assistance from the Madison County Board of Supervisors (especially Supervisor Karl Banks in his capacity as Supervisor of our District), a new galvanized metal roof was installed last week on the WMUD Office/Community Center building.

CDBG Sewer Project Advertising for Bids June 12, 2025 Deadline

2-20-24 Update on CDBG Grant for Sewer Rehabilitation

Madison County, applying on behalf of West Madison Utility District ("WMUD"), was awarded grant funds via a Community Development Block Grant ("CDBG") administered by the Mississippi Development Authority ("MDA").  Madison County received notice of this award on February 20, 2024.  The total project amount is $825,000 with 75% being CDBG funds and Madison County providing a 25% match.  It is anticipated that construction will begin in the summer/fall of 2025 and be completed in winter/spring of 2026.  Thank you, Supervisors and especially, Supervisor Karl Banks for making this happen!

Past Project: Replacement of Galvanized Water Lines

The WMUD has awarded a bid for replacement of galvanized water pipes to eliminate the "dirty" water some residents in Magnolia Heights are experiencing.  Construction ended in 2022.

Past Project - Elevated Water Tank

The WMUD Board has awarded the bid for painting and revamping the elevated water tank located on Echols Road.  Completed in 2022.  WMUD also allowed C-Spire to install its antennaes on the elevated water tank to provide service for the Kearney Park area residents/businesses as it is currently a "dead" area for cellular reception.
