4-13-21 Update

The West Madison Utility District received a loan from the Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) Drinking Water Systems Improvements Revolving Loan Fund (DWSIRLF) in conjuncation with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for two contracts.

Contract No. 1 was for refurbishing the elevated water tank.  Contract No. 2 was for water distribution improvements the involved the replacement of existing galvanized waterlines with new pvc waterlines.   Contract No. 1 was completed and a final inspection of the elevated water tank is scheduled for May, 2021.  Contract No. 2 is completed except for the final punch list items and the clean up to be performed by Jay Bearden Construction.  The total loan amount was $511,749.00, but WMUD received principal forgiveness in the amount of $206,876.00, leaving a balance of $304,873.00.  We are very excited about the amount of the principal forgiveness as a lot of improvements were made to our community for a little over half the estimated cost.  We hope to have everything completed soon and everyone's yards fixed.  This should happen within the next 2-3 months.  We apologize for the delay and are trying our best to hurry this along.  Thank you so much for your patience and we hope you are enjoying your improved water service.
